    Its bloody good stuff Scotty.
Top sh!t ... As said, want to colour the bullbar and rims ... Thinking black would look good on the rig - Ryans had black rims the other night when he was over and his truck is the same colour as mine, so it somewhat motivated me!!

Sorry Patch but i have to disagree. I work with aluminium & pc [powder coat] is the only way to go. It is very hard to get any form of piant to stick to ally even with etch priming. Pc is stronger, more durable & a better finish [in my mind]. My advice is to get your ally parts blasted [ with a fine gannet solution] & then send them to pc.
    The pc process is -
1 the ally parts gointo an acid bath which cleans & prepares the metal for the next step.
2 goes through a water rinse & then into a chromate solution which seals the pores of the metal [primes] & gives the metal a strong surface to bond to
    3 then another water rinse
4 products are either drip dried or prebaked in the oven for a short time.
5 then the products [once dry] are put in the pc booth, sprayed with electo charged powder
6 placed in oven & baked at approx 200 degres.

My only concern would be that it can be very hard to get a decent coat of powder into tight crevices [common around wheels].
Just my 2 cents Scotty. Just remember any sand blasting of ally should be fine gannet or soda.
Watch out there's a Poo "Yota" lurking in the shadows !

Righto - now I am confused. Just had the powder coater call me back, and took him through my concerns about PC chipping etc - his exact response - "bullsh!t". He went a step further than typical sales rubbish which is sort of a clincher for me. Gave me the phone number of his brother who is a specialist fabricator in brissy doing rock sliders, barwork, custom trays etc who gets ALL of his gear powder coated through this company due to it's durability etc. I'm green to this, but I'm not a complete cabbage head, and that sounds like a pretty bloody good reference.

Absolute worst case scenario for cost for all 5 wheels and the bullbar (with full prep treatment etc) is $680 ... again, that sounds fairly decent to me, and he said if they are in good condition like I said, then it would be less ...

    Hmmmm ....
