Hello, i was wondering if anybody else has had the problem of diesel leaking out the bottom of the fuel pump. What is the fix? How many millions will it cost me this time? Everything it still running ok.
What model is the fuel pump? I would presume it would be Bosch?
I have a 3-5 lb inline pump with 2 extra fuel filters. Would the extra pressure from this pump have caused this problem? cheers
CRD Fuel Pumps are a fair bit cheaper than the old style pumps to repair and purchase, as they are simply pressurizing the fuel rail, albeit with fairly high pressure. I have seen them go for $1,000 and less,
I am not the expert on these pumps as I have never needed to rebuilt any of mine, but I would think that the extra pressure from the inline lift pump may have contributed to the leaky seals.
That is true from what I have read too... mine is still standard - I am relying on the Nissan filter to do its job ....
I may have been wrong with my first post because on re-reading your initial post it might even be the other way around for you as you have two extra filters, and this might be causing the pump to suck /pull too hard to get fuel....
99% of my fuel comes out of drums, so i have to have the extra filters. It's not leaking a lot at this time. but little leaks tend to turn into big leaks.
