33's on a 2.8 GQ?
Hey guys,
Wondering if anyone has any experience with 285/75/16 (33in) tyres on a 2.8td GQ?
I'm really after some feedback on how bad it affects power on the road etc and is it really noticeable compared to a set of 265/75/16 tyres.

Yeh I wasn't sure how bad it would affect it as it would only be a 15mm height difference from the 265's. I've heard hill starts are a royal pain and you need to ride clutch with 285's on.

Timbo ran 35's on his gu and it wasn't as bad as you would think.
Try and do a tyre swap off a mate for a day and try it out.

2.8td GQ (91 kw) I have, less power than a 2.8td GU (95 kw), I know it's only 4kw difference but GU is also intercooled.

Two mates have 2.8 GUs with 33s and don't seem to have any trouble. They are no power house but they do the job

Hi There,
my truck is wearing the 33/12,5/15 BFG AT or MT (depends on where I'm going). The truck IS slower then on std tyres but well... It has different cons on it

I really haven't noticed much difference going up to 285/75/16's.
