GU patrol ZD30 auto Strength?
Hi Gents,
Does anyone know the strength of the standard nissan auto? I'm a bit stuck on what to do with gearbox choice for my GU wagon project (Turbocharged Ls1) I've had turbo v8s in street cars before and have had good success with t400's but my GU came factory with ZD30 auto. If the nissan auto can be used what will have to be upgraded? Like converter, valve body, bands ect. And does anyone specialize in these? The old girl should be putting around 550hp to the tyres.
thank you very much for any info you have
Michael

Patrol God
give Wholesale Transmissions a call out Bayswater in Vic
They will tell you if yours can be beefed up you'll need a T700R beefed up, what ever
They specialise in high performance applications

Thanks heaps for your reply will contact them. Did you mean t700 as in GM 4 Speed from a commodore? Also do you know the strength rating of the manual td42 boxes vs the zd30's? Was another option to go manual.
Thanks again

I know a guy that has one behind a N/A LS1 and he gives it hard time with no issues. And his a standard box. So upgrade the valve body and she should be good

Would it not be better to use the ls motor and gear box from the donor car? I would be doing that and sell your motor and gear box to cover the costs

X2 on Wholesale Automatics, I've heard the standard auto is one of the toughest in the business but they can advise if an Extreme/Nomad valve body is all you need or more done.
