Things that make you say WTF!!!!

Just had a bloke come into the shop saying his car was making a noise for about a week, he looked at the wheel yesterday because the brake pad FELL OUT and he thinks its the wheel bearing, he tried to drive it but the car won't go anymore......

So we organized a tow truck got it on a hoist and pulled the front wheels off, the D/S/F shocker fell out of its seat coz it snapped the pillow top mount (don't ask how coz i truly don't know lol ) ImageUploadedByMotorculture1393202203.769329.jpgImageUploadedByMotorculture1393202210.716556.jpg

It gets better tho, the P/S/F made all of us say WTF!! How did this guy not kill himself or anyone else??? I'll let the pictures do the talking.......ImageUploadedByMotorculture1393202338.610993.jpgImageUploadedByMotorculture1393202345.561426.jpgImageUploadedByMotorculture1393202352.813232.jpgImageUploadedByMotorculture1393202362.495320.jpgImageUploadedByMotorculture1393202372.049803.jpgImageUploadedByMotorculture1393202381.030923.jpgImageUploadedByMotorculture1393202388.063856.jpg
Damage report: stub axle and hub assembly destroyed, drive shaft outer cv seized, brake caliper, cradle and disc rotor mauled.

I had one almost as good as this years ago, a customer brought in his ef fairmont coz he said the brakes started to grind which was true but so was half the piston in the rear caliper and the disc rotor was worn down from 10mm down to 3mm o.O

Wow, George, that is taking extended maintenance periods to a new level. Our local wrecker has a brake disc and caliper on display. The disc's internal fins are exposed.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

WTF, The brake pad fell out and then he tried to drive it, take his keys and throw them away, then take his license and burn it. I know some people can be mechanically unsympathetic but to have your brake pad fall out and still try to drive is inexcusable.

Seriously - it would have been making a noise like a steel rod on a cheese grater. Buy the guy a bus pass instead.
Seemed like a good idea at the time

The only bit left of the double row wheel bearing is 1 of the inner races on the hub ImageUploadedByMotorculture1393209300.524568.jpg the top part of this hub
