Nice work I'd love to get pigs like that. I heard the .222 is dying out these days and not being made by manufacturers any more. With all the other similar modern calibres etc I own a Stirling .22lr and a Remington 22/250 now to save up and buy a 7mm rem mag for deer camel and alike

always good to see a dead pig, My BIL gave me a gun rack made from front trotters from a huge boar up Maude way.
I'll dig it out later and take a pic of the trotters I think they are 4 fingers wide

Nice shooting with the 222 on the run.

My next rifle will be a 22/250 Tikka T3 lite. Even though it is in some peoples minds an irrelevant caliber. I just love they way they shoot.
How ever my Remington 700 .270 has been very good to me.

Its a Sako in .222, I load my own so it will last me for ever. My next favorite is a Ruger .243 a bit noisy but shoots flat as. .308 for the bigger stuff.
Had a SKS when they were still legal, shot a lot of pigs in western NSW off the bike, not much got away. Now just happy to keep the numbers down on my own place. Got another 4 a couple of days ago.

22/250 IMHO is Australia's best calibre to use controversial I know but once hand loaded can be cheap to shoot ie roo shooters with Sierra varmint grenades at 3200fps easy 300m head shots pending on skill level still have enough poke for dogs dingos and fox at that distance plus long range rabbiting is always fun. Put in Somme 55 grain barns projectiles hot load them to 3400fps still get 4/5 shots per case and pigs goats are in real trouble to 200 metres. I prefer to get close like 100m as I like the stalk. As for deer I'd still shoot my 22/250 at does for head shot meat harvest but for a head mount I wouldn't use under a 270 but I'd prefer a 7mm rem mag which I think is the best .300 calibre yes even better than a .300 win mag if you want one of them you'd be better off with a .338win mag. I prefer shot placement and useable down range impact over projectile weight
