2006 GU gear box noise.
PGTech8
My 2006 GU DX 4.2Ti has a rattle in 1st and 2nd gear when starting off, only in low revs. I have been told this is normal in a Patrol manual box and is caused by the pressure plate springs. Has anyone been able to cure this with a stronger or different pressure plate or able to shed more light on this problem.

It is very common with the td42 and there's a lot of chats about here.
At low revs I think it's actually the engine and mine harmonics down the drivetrain through gearbox, exhaust, etc.

G`day mate.
I thin kyou will find its the clutch plate not the pressure plate
The torsional damping springs in the clutch plate some times become a little weak and thus the rattle
You can replace the plate with one that has stronger springs or do what I would do and just leave it until a clutch replacement is necessary.
If your unsure get it checked out at a clutch specialist rather than your local mech

Legendary
I was always told it was a Harmonic Vibration noise through the drivetrain.....
No harm usually comes from this noise
