Any COMPUTER Techs in the house ? ( netbook parts help)
Anybody work or got contacts that can obtain Asus notebook parts ?
Im after a LCD screen cable to suit a ASUS N61J notebook PC, P/N 1422-00PL0AS
This is what it looks like.........

Ive enquired at local PC repair shops, and they only want to repair the PC, not sell me any parts.
As you can see from the link below, many part numbers exist for the same sort of cable, I asked sellers on egay about other part numbers working with my PC and they can't say for sure, of course, I don't wish to put it all back together to find it won't work.

Ive got my PC in a 100 pieces, and would like to have it back together to use this weekend, so finding a cable within Australia would be desirable.
Even if someone "in the know" ,could confirm what the differences are between part numbers ? (as many cables all seem to look the same)

The cord got damaged because the screen hinges snapped (fitted new hinges while its apart)
Theres like a thousand (well, maybe not quite) tiny wires inside the cord, some are broken right where it passes near the hinge area, soldering is not practical as the wires are so tiny, and anyway they still need to flex as you open/close the screen, removing complete strands of wire is also not really a option, as the individual wires are so many and so thin, id do more damage to the loom than good.
The other thing is, id have to put the computer all back together to test anything, not sure if you pulled a notebook apart before, but it fairly fiddley and time consuming

Look for a complete but not working netbook of the same. Or partial of the netbook... I have done this twice for my Eee Pc. Cheaper than buying the parts I need.
This bit?

Thanks mudski, already looked around for a cheap or broken N61J (ebay, gumtree, google etc), even if I find one, the cable part number may not match mine, not knowing what the difference is between part numbers, I might just be buying parts I cant use.
The cable in the first link you posted has a different part number to mine, so again, It may not work ?
I already talked to those same guys earlier today (in the second link you posted) not much joy im afraid

MSY only sell new PC components, video cards, motherboards, hard drives etc... They don't stock laptop motherboards or replacement parts for it, except RAM and expansion cards etc...

Don't bother with msy. They are only any good if you know what your doing/what you want.
Have you tried computer alliance at my gravatt?? They have a repair shop. Would be pretty costly to get it repaired but they might be able to get a cable?
