1992 GQ 4.2 petrol Wagon,

Hi All Tony T here, the above wagon is Auto, Pulled up in drive working great, turned it off, and wouldn't start in morning , ignition lights all came on, made all the right noises, ( its petrol gas,) but no nothing, lights on dash don't even dim when key turned, New Starter fitted, battery ok fuses ok the ones I can find, all wires seem tight and don't move when wriggled. thoughts please.

THE IGNITION BARREL IS BUGGERED, SO IF YOURS DOESNT WANT TO START AND YOU HAVE NO NOTHING TRY LOOKING THERE FIRST,, regards Tony

Have you tried clean the inside if the terminals and artery posts? Might seem like a silly question but the exact same thing happened to me on Sunday. I check everything but untilI I had enough and called the RAC, 2 minutes later, clean terminals and posts and away she starts. No issues since.

what about the wires on the back of starter. the ign wire hasnt fallen off or broken maybe?? have you tried roll starting it to make sure its only the starting system thats not working.

Main engine fuse is in the engine bay, check that after you clean the battery terminals as clunk says.

Forgot to ask, is it trying to turn over, or are you just getting a click?

No I haven't will do that now, thanks for the tip,

put new starter on checked all wires have power to starter, cant roll start as is auto, will chase wires again, power to ignition, and to starter

Only the noise of the gas and normal noises when turn key on, no click or anything from the starter, when the key is turned nothing happens at all, not even the dash lights dim a little

not turning over nothing happens when u turn the key just found a buzzing noise in the transmission, don't know why, but buzzes when u turn key on
