My first entry is breakfast at Madigan Camp 20 in the Simpson contemplating how we are going to get past the flooding.
Hey Tony, when dod you do the Madigan mate? Camp 20 was an amazing place. i remember arriving at the water after possibly the hardest section of the trip and the sight of water just blew me away!
Damn that water though! took us the better part of a day to find the stake and find a way around the water! The "Track" was under water and finding it again was a fair challenge.
The Camp 20 Stake was in very poor condition and leaning on a tree and illegible. we had an dremel i the car and one of our group engraved the camp number back on the tag and i re-screwed it to the stake with tek screws and put it back in the ground. Hopefully for another 30 years.
Its a Nissan! =====> Its a Keeper!! ....... Got a TD42 in it BONUS!! ....... I'm a lucky bugger! I've got 2 of em!

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever. WARNING: Towballs used for recoveries can, and do kill people and damage property.

We did the Madigan July 2010 and I think the flooding was at its peek. We did not find the camp 20 stake and could not get across Eyre creek at that point but travelled down the western side for about 60km to the alternate QAA crossing. The trip across took us a few days more than we planned as we constantly had to find alternate routes around flooding but was probably the best trip I have done. Even the trip back along the Birdsville Track was a real adventure as they only just re-opened it.
When were you there?
We did the Madigan July 2012
Took 7 days, got all camps other than 3,4 I think
From memory camps 3, 4 & 5 are in the aboriginal lands so not allowed to go to them.
I was up that way July 2012 as well, we took the Madigan to camp 2 then detoured off to Geo-survey Hill and the Geographical Centre.
That was a challenging trip as most of it was without tracks.
