Morning all
Picked up a GU 4500 this week for the family wagon, had a Discovery 3 HSE before, but we emigrated over from the UK last week and had to sell up. Different beast the Patrol is, that said it's awesome so far.
Engine is a tad tappety and somewhat lazy, will have to get that sorted asap as it's doing my head in after 500km's so far.
Living just outside Mandurah till we move up to Perth.
Just spent the last few nights reading everything I can.

Yeah it's on the cards once I find a good garage, I have spent a fair amount of time working on my own cars, but as it's the family transport the wife would end me if I started going at it with the spanners!
As a rough/total ball park figure, what's the usual servicing costs on these? Assuming just a check/top up and a tappet adjustment? So I know if I am about to get shafted.

Welcome to Oz & to the forum.
We came over in ’87 & have never regretted it, only wish we’d come sooner.
Perth is reputed to be a bit of an enclave for ex-poms. When we arrived we were advised to avoid any of the ex-pat clubs/societies. I reckon it was good (& easy to follow) advice. Some folk end up ’true blue’, others will always be poms. I’ll leave it to you to decide which makes living in this great country easiest.
Good luck with getting the Patrol sorted.

We originally wanted to stay in or around Bunbury however work and the wife's shifts mean we need to be within 30-60min from Perth. It's still early days though, just need to find a long term rental for a year or so to find our feet then take it from there.
Cheers for the welcome all.
Yeah once the Patrol is running better and we have time to breathe I'll be up for seeing what these things can do on the rough stuff

Yeah I like it down here, just at the moment my wife would be doing 200km round trips a day for work so thats a no go. Now looking at Kinross/Joondalup/Burns Beach, then will have a look at options later.
Just on the hunt for a Mandurah based garage now
