    Help under DASH

So I have spent half a day going over my car, doing the little jobs that always seem to get put off...My temp gauge has been giving me the sh!ts so I attacked it aswell...I have pulled the instrument panel out and located the fault..it's the actual temp unit behind the dash..But for the life of me I cannot find out who has them, going away on the weekend and need ASAP.

    Thanks

It's a bit hard to tell by the photo but it looks like the solder joint on the bottom left in the second photo is cracked.

Might pay to run a hot soldering iron over all them all.

That's sounds more like an earthing problem at the instrument cluster/temp gauge.

Is there any damage along the earth circuit in the circuit board from the temp gauge to connecter pin 14?

You could also try running a temporary earth to the temp gauge and see if this fixes your problem.

I'll might have another look tomorrow, did take it all apart and do the test as per the manual, couldn't perform one as the gauge read full instantly so I couldn't watch it rise slowly....I will if I get time after work have another look and get back to ya..thanks for giving me something to work on..

    Cheers

This sounds similar to what I'm butting out.
I've tested each negative wire for ground to the body and came up good.
So I'm going back over the electrical work I did on the rear lights next to see if I missed something.

    Frustrating hay..
    Cheers
