The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever. WARNING: Towballs used for recoveries can, and do kill people and damage property.
Thanks for that Muddy.
They are held on by a single M12mm HT bolt through the bottom of the chassis, the nut has a bit of wire welded to it to hold it in place via that hole in the chassis side. The wire has broken off the RHS one.
2 10mm 75mm plates welded make the top bit and a large hole is drilled in the lower piece to fit the bolt and socket. The lowest piece with the folded sides (5 or 6mm) covers the lot and is held in place with M8 HT countersunk bolts.
The weight will be on the front against the chassis and both sides of the hanger. Have seen scratches on them but no real hard test has been done yet.
