My old patsy has started to want to wander, i've done wheel bearings bout 2-3 months ago...easy now i'm just wondering how hard it is to change the swivel housing bearings on the patrol as i've never stripped the hub and etc back that far before...... Is it a big job, ive got plenty of space in shed and tools to do it or should i leave it up to someone im not scared to give it a crack, also roughly how much is the kit??? If anyone knows, thanks it would be a great help
Check the thread "how to replace CV joints", you need to go a few steps further that. Remove the swivel hub wiper seals then remove the top and bottom swivel hub bearings (4 bolts in each), the whole swivel hub will then come off for cleaning and replacing bearing cones.
While you're at it replace the inner axle oil seals, they're leaking badly.
Thankyou Mate as you can tell she's had a HARD life 4x4'n shooting paddock bashing etc but still go's strong its a bloody tough old rig just needs som TLC. MS
