1997 RD28T buzzing noise coming from Glow Plug Relay (under the bonnet)

    Hey boys,

I had a flat battery in the GQ and took the battery out and charged it using a battery charger for a few days.

I re installed the now charged battery and when I turn on the ignition, there is a very loud buzzing/clicking sound emitting from the Glow Plug relay under the bonnet. Keep turning the key and I hear a solenoid clicking but nothing else. I get dash lights but no glow system lights.

Have I killed the relay or the entire glow system altogether?

    Cheers,

    Rob

Check the main negative battery cable connection at the engine and body.

sure that your battery is still good? I had the same problem in my GQ. glow relay was like a buzzer. I put a new battery in it and the problem was solved.

Thanks boys. I had a sneaking suspicion that the battery is cactus.

I'll change it out and see how I go.

    Cheers,

    Thanks TD.

Before I fork out $160 odd on a new battery I will reseat the terminal connections after first cleaning them and see how I go.

    Will post my findings tomorrow.

    Cheers,

Might even be worth re-doing the earths to the chassis ,body and engine.
This will then eliminate that as a possible cause, as well
