    Solar Power

    Hello,

I have just purchased the components to set up solar power on my camper and I would have thought that there should be a fuse between the house battery and the PV Controller which is a 20amp controler, but was not supplied one in the kit. My questions are should there one and if so what size should it be.

    Thanks,

    Harry.

there should be one but they near never come in the kit . as close to the battery as possible min 50 amp this prevents any shorting out of cable from battery through to controller positive cable only .ps if solar panel is fixed and running all the time it may pay to put a fuse near the solar panels themselves 50 amp also to stop any shorting . Don't forget though controller should be as close to batteries as possible to help with any voltage drop also check cable lengths and size as per cuppas explanations to also reduce voltage drop

Thanks alfonso. I thought there should be one in case of problems so I will do as you have suggested and fix one near the battery and the solar panel.

    Much appreciated,

    Harry.
