    Hi Danny.

Mate there is a fair bit of info in this thread for you to digest and consider. For me, the strap I would not buy second hand (used) is a Snatch Strap. Even visually they can still look fine but can be very difficult to determine the life they have led and whether they still have potential for stretch.

I would happily buy tree trunk protectors and extension straps after rolling them out and inspecting them for wear and damage.

Back to your original question though re roof rack and roof top tent. As you stated that you are a Student and have a very limited budget I would probably encourage you to consider the TigerzII roof rack and rooftop tent combo. I detest this brand. It is cheap and cheap for a reason. If though you are aware of what you are buying and understand that it might get you out camping for a couple of years before it is junk then go for it mate. Know that it is Cheap and nasty but it will keep you dry.

This will be the first and last time I recommend TigerzII gear. You are the perfect candidate and their real market. Have fun bud.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.
WARNING: Towballs used for recoveries can, and do kill people and damage property.
