I brought one of the wireless remotes years ago but was told to avoid it
especially if a tricky situation arises, I have a winch isolation switch
inside on the centre facia next to a winch in/out switch. Yet to wire it all up.
My son is an auto elec but thats not going to happen now eh GRrrrrrrrrr
In a perfect world a 3 battery set up would be nice with 2 x crankers for the winch
and a DC for the AUX. I had a 3 battery system in my other 4x4 but had no winch
just two lockers ARB and a Pro-locker up front best set up ever. Not sure what I want to do in the future
E-lockers are expensive IMO. I have an on board tank and motor again yet to be wired. Plus need to rip
the 3 gallon tank out of the other 4x4,,,so many jobs,,, How often do you come to town????

They wireless remote has been perfect, especially since I use the winch to help with moving large fallen limbs and the like.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

Picked up one of these below for $10 from a garage sale about 5 years ago, apparently wasn't working but worked fine when I plugged it in at home. Still works now after 6 years. Just don't get warm things nice n cold like a fridge, but if you get your stuff nice n cold before loading it up, should stay cool all day

So fed up with the Warn winch I have now, every time I want to use it, it fails! That's 2 Warns kark it in 12 years, for what they charge I was hoping for a better service life.
Snigging firewood logs Tuesday and it died again aarrrgggh.
The brushes get stuck in the slides they are located in and as the motor is not solidly attached to the winch it moves around and pushes the little buggers away from the commutator. This is the 6th time I've tried to fix this.
So a 12000lb fits, up from 9500lb and hopefully ticks the boxes. About half the price of a Warn too.
Yo Macca here's a reply from Warn industries USA,,,,quote I have seen this occur in a couple of winches, the "brush box" corrodes around the bush and the brush becomes stuck. I have seen our service tech's revive an old motor that had this issue.
I did the same thing with a motor a friend sent me to look at. We freed up the bushes using WD40, and once loose cleaned everything up, then applied
dielectric grease to the brushes to coat the inside of the brush box to prevent corrosion forming again, the motor worked fine and is still working after
a couple of years.
I know this does not sound like something that should be required to do to a winch motor , but it seems to me that the brush clearance inside the brush box is very tight to begin with on some motors, so there is no room for corrosiononce it begins. I believe the tolerance spec is not adhered to by our supplier as closely as it should.
As already mentioned I will log this issue in our system for further review. un quote
