Cant you buy different coloured "boots" to suit, cause as
you said you would sand blast the help out of the shaft

In all honesty I think the shocks in the patrol are quite well protected..
They are behind the axles, springs and everything else on both front and rear..

You only have to check out an old shock to see the pitting and sandblasting that occurs. Obviously its different depending on the type of terrain you're on. Heaps of gravel roads at speed would certainly mean stone chips. I reckon for the relatively cheap price of the boots, compared to the shocks, they would be a good bit of protection.

Yeah good point there. Just look at an old shock....
Unless the shaft is made in a way that they are durable enough to withstand pretty much anything.

I went and saw @Lights today..... Might have bought a new Light Bar for the GQ! and a couple of other lights too. Paul has some very very kool lights. the New LED Light bar is a brand new product and measured 500% brighter than the Aurora Lights of the same size on Pauls LUX meter. Looking forward to mounting them up. If the bar fits i will buy one for the GUIV too i think.

Thanks Paul always a pleasure mate.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

No they're not. The shafts themselves are as robust asthey can be. But they are still either chromed or micro polished. Finer dust particles will easily damage the shaft surface, they arn't that well protected at all up front.... I know because the shaft boots I asked for with my kings that never showed up would have stopped the pitting on one of my front shocks. But I bent that shock so I dont care that much anymore
