Head or Block
Just another dumb blonde question. The housemate has literally pulled apart the motor after my mishap. Was hoping to get away with just the oil cooler (the rings and gasket were shot) ... Welshplug behind the cooler was rusted out, and another at the back of the head. Fixed all that. Dropped the sump, and after a 'test' found water was still leaking somewhere around cylinder 5. Replaced head gasket & manifold gasket ?? .... (and a missing bolt from god knows how many years ago) (Oh, and found some socket thing he lost in the area of the motor most probably the same time) ..... so pretty much put it all back together and its still leaking water from around the same area. Assuming its not the head, as he cleaned it and didn't see any cracks. So, its gotta be the block huh, if so, is there an easy way to confirm that ?? Or is there something he has missed maybe ?? Apparently the water is running out (under no pressure), not just dripping.
Please remember, my housemate sorta knows what he is doing, but I have no idea. All I am trying to do it get a gist of things, so I know what he is talking about (I am learning lots of new words tho) ...
Any help would be greatly appreciated from where to go from now ..
Cheers
Jenn

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.
