I used to use discarded cast iron BBQ plates in an angle iron frame.
Then welded a 1" plumbing socket in each corner with screw in legs about 400mm long.
All pulled apart and housed in a hessian bag or similar. M2cw

Both look great mate, IMO I like the flat also I think it would be more solid to put a loaded camp oven on if wanted. Though slimline would pack nicely lol

That's a good point..
The Rod is quite strong. But yes the flat is stronger..
if that's no to your fancy just use a cast iron BBQ plate in an angle iron frame.
weld sockets in each corner and cut 4 legs to either screw on or slide in
