    fuel guage died!

my fuel guage went dead quite some time ago ... fortunately i know that i'm close to empty if i reach 600 km, so i just don't get close to 600! i believe it to be the floater, which is bad as it means a lot of work right!?

i'm nowhere near 25 posts yet as i'm new here, so i won't be able to download the GQ workshop manual for a while yet, so i was hoping that someone could tell me what i need to do to fix this in the meantime?

To get to the sender unit lift up or remove the carpet in the cargo area. There is a removeable section of floor that will give you access to the top of the fuel tank.

Remove the sender unit and use a multimeter to check the resistance with the float arm in various positions. If the resistance does vary (I don't have specs at the moment) then the fault is most likely in the gauge.
