    change to 4.3 diffs worth the work

    Hey guys n gals

    I have some 4.3 diffs from a rb30 patrol sitting here. I am weighing up selling them or using them.

    I got a TD42 gq with 4.1's ofcourse atm. Will be running 35's soon along with turbo. I know the 4.3's bring the speedo back about right with 35's but with the turbo will I need to go up in diff ratio?

    Any opinions would be great

    I don't know much about the ratios you will require but if that's the correct one I'd be putting it in so it won't be so sluggish and fuel consumption will be lower also.

    A 4.1 to 4.3 will keep Speedo right for 33" tyres..
    If you have em, yes.. It'll bring the ratios back and give you a better torque rating at the wheels..

    If your going 35`s then 4.6 ratios will keep everything Stock, but 4.3's are better than nothing..

    thanks. I'm just curious if with the turbo and extra torque will i need to worry about moving to 4.3's or 4.6's.

    Its got 33's on it now with the 4.1 and have had 35's on it before. It was a bit slower but these things ain't race cars lol

    I think 4.3 will be better for your 35"
    I used to have this chart showing ratios and the rpm per tyre size

    If I find it I will post it here

    just confirm that you have 4.1s now. i assume you have a NA GQ TD42 in which case you will likely have 4.1s my GUIV TD42Ti runs 3.9s and i have 285s with no trouble at all. i have run it with 35s and it does that easy to. My GQ is a TD42T and i have 4.6s in that. Nice and torquey. If you have them there will be a benefit but t wont be huge. You could hold off until your ready for the turbo or for lockers the fit the lockers to your 4.3s and then swap out the 3rd members.
    Its a Nissan! =====> Its a Keeper!! ....... Got a TD42 in it BONUS!! ....... I'm a lucky bugger! I've got 2 of em!

    The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.
