    MQ engine conversion help

    Hi guys

    Has anyone out there done any Ford BA onwards XR6 non turbo/turbo conversions and if so how hard/easy was it?

    One bloke on here put the xr6 turbo engine into a GQ. was a full custom job. Mal wood does the gearbox side of it. IMHO I wouldnt bother with the mq as your drive line wont handle it. Try and get your hands on a gq and start from there.

    Would the driveline handle str8 xr6 without turbo........how do you improve driveline........I know some would say this outlay isn't worth it but I am never selling so......

    My old mq with a std 450000km diesel running 35s use to eat front diffs that's why i say don't bother, Gq diffs may fit but it will require lots of work as your mq should be leaf sprung where as 99% of gq diffs are coil sprung.

    Just drive and enjoy the old girl for what she is and maybe consider a gq and up for all your conversion dreams.

    There have been a lot of mq's / mk's converted to v8. The boxes etc do hold up.
    1991 GQ LWB 4.2 Carby dual fuel, 32 mud claws, 2 inch lift, LSD's front and back

    And its Toooooooo High for the Ball & chain
