Engine Diagnostic Query ZD30 motor Help Please!!!!

OK Guys I have been trawling through old topics and posts and haven't been able to find the right info for my car.
I have a 2002 GU 111 ZD30 wagon and at the moment it has a check engine light up. This is possibly due to the alternator pulley crapping out recently and the car overheated.
Just recently I bought an engine diagnostic reader from eBay (OBD11 / EOBD) but the problem is it won't connect to the ecm.
I did a little bit of homework and found out that possibly the diagnostic reader will only work on common rail patrols.
I then found out that my car will work with "Nissan Consult". (I can't seem to find out which series Consult will work on my car).
I have searched eBay and found a couple of Nissan Consult scanners. But they are all 14 pin connectors and my car has the 16 pin OBD connector below the bonnet release lever.
Can anyone provide any info please?????? Its doing my head in. And
Does anyone know where I can get a Nissan Consult scanner with the 16 pin plug????
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers Woody

I know Threedogs has been investigating what he can use for his 2004 ZD30.
Not sure if it is the same plug but try sending him a PM and see what he knows, if he does know he will be happy to help you.

I believe Nissan used an ODBII plug but still used the old Nissan Consult Protocol

Send Peter an email at www.ecutalk.com he would be able to point you in the right direction

    Cheers

Turn off disconnect battery for an hr and drain your fuel filter see if it goes away

you may find like my 04 it has the OBD2 16 pin plug but only 9 pins are being used. 5 in one row 4 in the other
I PM'd Chaz about this matter as was informed the ECUtalk is the one you want,
Think you can contact them on peter@ecutalk.com.au

Mine did same as yours after the alternator pulley Shat itself, ended up being crank position sensor.
But was a long time to get my 04 going properly again

Yeah threedogs mine is exactly the same. Has the same wire config in the 16 pin plug as yours.

If You can twist yourself to look inside you'll find not all 16 pins are used
