Y60 Tachometer fix
Hello all, Tor here,
For anyone who wants to know, I just fixed my faulty tachometer,
By taking the dash apart and taking the tach out, I found that the Zener diode had become very hot and melted the solder disconnecting itself (tach worked intermittently when dashboard received abuse). After re soldering this the tach worked for a few days, but started playing up again after I removed the dash when I installed an alarm. I took the tach out again and cleaned up the soldering and re soldered the large 130 ohm resistor, but tach still played up (Sat on 2000RPM) Not having any contact cleaner handy, I scratched up the copper that the brass tach screws in the back seat/contact to.
Works fine now.
If anyone is interested and would like photos for a better understanding, let me know.

Thus the diode heated up due to lack of ground?
