    Gas struts - Good brands?

Its seems that nearly all GU owners have trouble with the bonnet gas struts. I'm about to replace mine but thought I'd ask if anyone can recommend a decent brand that will last a little longer.

    Cheers, Scotty.

I just bought mine off eBay, was like $35 posted, imo they are all gonna be around the same, it's not like shocks were you go for the better brands.

    Cheers,
    Eric.

They also come in different pressures so make sure you get the correct pressure
and mount them the correct way , which is black piston side down, keeps them lubricated
Pressure wise they would need to be 400Nm minimum, not sure what OE are.
    100Nm = 10Kg approx
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there

With the ebay ones advertised here they only say GU 1997 on so if pressure is an issue wil these do?

    Should be fine.

Here is a link to the ones I bought.

Only need to lift the bonnet a little bit now and the struts do the rest.
Also on the struts themselves they are marked for which way up/down.

Thanks. I had been looking at those struts but I was not sure if that were OK. Seems though they do a good job.

Gday, I replaced mine with Nissan Maxima struts. Was told they higger pressure coz of the longer canterlever of the Maxima bonnet.
Paid $100 but work gr8. Hold bonnet up in any position.

    Bought these and fitted yesterday.
They seem to have a bit less articulation on the ball but fit and work fine
I don't have to use the jack handle as a bonnet strut anymore!!

Just got to fix the latch bar in the bonnet now!?
