Took the plunge and ordered 1 of the little tantos that TD posted earlier and was just delivered.
Very sturdy little knife and reasonably sharp out of the box but does need finishing, damn near 5mm thick across the spine and the scales are pretty good though a bit thick to be fully comfortable but they can be removed and the leather sheath is pretty good for a cheapie.
Only major downside is that it's a chisel blade instead of hollow ground both sides.

Dont worry mate just a bit quiet, thats all. I think that style blade would have some advantages over
a normal type blade.
Well decided to start finishing a few blanks I have plus one Im doing from scratch.
The pic is of a Seki city drop point I made for Simon of 4WDTV fame,
I have 2 blanks and plenty of scales to mix and match, Simons one has streaky Buff scales
and the pins are from a hinge up at Qantas. ha ha you pic what plane and what hinge.
Thats the easy bit. the 2nd one Im dying to finish is my Damascus clip point Buck 110 folder copy
but with a fixed blade, I have most parts cut ready to fix. I'll also be doing a bit of file work on the spine.
This fixed Buck 110 has been on the back burner for quite a while now so time to knock it out of the park, lol
The bone and red gum handles are from 2 fillet knives I made a while back
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there
One thing Id do in hindsight on that redgum handle is not follow the blade down
but to finish it with a circle a lot better to look at IMO, but that was one of the first
knives I made and having a redgum sheath as well its well special to me.. Might
get you to post that sheath back if thats ok. will get some material out and take
a pic so ppl here can have some imput on how it will look.
That bone fillet knife I scrimshawed a fish on it with an engineers scriber and rubbed
some ash into it actually came up alright but I dont have pics , it was a gift to a mate.
Irish just use old saw blades not sure why you want an anvil

Mainly want it because I like the idea of forging stuff, once I put my setup together I want to have a go at a tomahawk/hiking hatchet. But yeah old sawblades look like a very popular option.
I have some 3' and 2' blades here bout 6mm thick from a saw mill up BoHo way
but Im not cutting them up.
Im going to get a car spring and turn it into a mean mother Kurkri knife,
hopefully have a 10mm spine, I have a forge [never used it yet]
and a decent anvil if you ever want to play. The guy at the local Chicken
shop has half decent coal/charcoal in bags
