diff whine ?????
I bought my 2002 3.0l DT 4 weeks ago, 250000KLMS. Now It has just started emitting a high pitch whine when I hit 95 klm hr. , this noise seems to be coming from front RH .It stops as soon as I take foot of accelerator and starts again as soon as I put it on again. Is this a sign my diff is on the way out , or what else could it be ? hopefully something less expensive??? your thoughts please...

Maybe Egr pipe leaking , Does it sound like exhaust leak , don't think its your diff
Loose belt, Have a look under the bonnet see if all looks right, Can you replicate the sound standing still

Drop the diff oil and look for bits of metal in it and on the plug
When my diff went it was more of a low pitch droning sound that left when under power and was more noticeable coasting than cruising

Legendary
it wouldn't be from your front diff unless your hubs are locked in constantly but i still dont think it would whine as its not under load i reackon its your thrust bearing or maybe a uni joint

im a bit deaf (a lot being a boilermaker) so not 100% sure where sound is emanating from defiantly a high pitch whine. Realise now it shouldn't be front diff but somats not quite right .Thought it was diff due to the noise stopping as soon as I took foot of accelerator and coming back when I put it on again. Gonna get a mechanic to give it a full service and check all out.Was told it had been given a full service before buying it ....but for pice of mind I think I should....any good 4x4 mechanics in Redlands qld ?

More have a squeak that is high pitched and annoying. It sounds like your brakes are stuck on slightly
