4.5ltr vs 4.8ltr fuel economy
We all love the 4.8 for its power and they are both thirsty engines. Having driven dad's 4.5 a bit over the past few weeks is the 4.8 any thirstier? According to Nissan the 4.8 is rated at 17.2ltrs/100 (pfft, yer right). I couldn't find the Nissan figures on the Nissan 4.5 though.

CERTIFIABLY INSANE
Hahahha, my 4.2 EFI uses more than 17L/100km.
There's no way the 4.8 would even be close.
As you your question on the 4.5 I don't know. There are a few blokes around the forum with them so you might hear from them.

While I dont know what the actual fuel consumption figures are, keep in mind the 4.8 has a much more advanced twin cam 24 valve cylinder head and I think also variable cam timing, so should be more efficient despite its extra capacity and power output. That said, use the power and you will pay for it at the bowser. I know of one person through the Nissan Patrol club who uses a 4.8 for touring and finds it economical enough that he has no plans to do an LPG conversion.

I normally get between 16 and 19 running standard fuel. With 2inch lift, tradesman roofrack, bullbar& winch.
Unless i'm driving aggressively i get under 20 pulling our popup camper @ approx 1.5 ton.
I am very happy with fuel consumption. I only run petrol. Soon i will try higher octane.........

4.8 is not as greedy as 4.5 - at least as long as you can control yourself. Hammer it and it's gonna hammer you back
