Well its been a while since posting in this thread so here is the latest.
Its a simple pole made from 20mm shaft, or cold extruded steel, a small stabilizing plate on the bottom and then 9mm shaft wrapped around the pole to hang your gear on..
Now you can buy these. Retails around $150 for the pole, plate and hanging rod.
Well I didn't need a plate due to already having a grill plate for our gas bbq
So i got to buying the steel..
1m of the 20mm shaft (and a small off cut around 100mm)
150mm of 40x5 flat bar
And 2m of 9mm shaft saw me good, but it depends on what you want to do..
So all you do is simple work out what you want and put a loop on one end.. 1370837373661.jpg
And a kick up on one end to stop the kettle sliding off..
And for my hot plate I simply made a v shape, the ring in the center and then some small bends to make the hot plate sit level.. 1370837510018.jpg
So yea an oxy helps, but its hot needed. Can be done with just muscle..
Good stuff Kallen, I like fossicking around campsites for all the bits of wire that ppl use to hang bits and pieces off.
thats great for hanging billy off for a constant HW supply, Found this one on ebay,

04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there
I have seen those 3D, the only down fall I see with it is it hogs the fire.. great if your the only one but when in a group this allows multiple users and everyone can adjust there plate/ pot level to adjust cooking temp.. and its as simple as lifting the rod up or down the shaft (welding glove on of course..)
And when done just swing it out of the heat and it its your serving dish..
Yeah agree way too big I use an 8mm stainless steel laser cut frame out of the scrap dumpster 450mm x 1000mm approx
works a treat for my needs, as normally around 8 ppl at camp.

Here's one I 'acquired' from my old man. 20mm round bar with holes drilled and tapped every 50mm for some Allen key bolts.
Bit of flat bar welded to the bottom to stop it spinning. Plate has been heated and bashed to a slight concave and holes drilled for drainage.
Plate can be swung out of the way easy and height adjustment can be done on the fly without having to put down your beer.

Steak and egg burgers for dinner
this is great! i love how simple it is! and theres nothing better than a campfire hot plate
Haha, cheers for the comments, I just wish I could take some credit..., its nearly 30yrs old and still works a treat. I stole it off my old man as he doesn't go camping anymore and I'm taking the wife and kids out more now.
My kids enjoying enjoying a breakfast of champions, followed by bacon and eggs after the kettle boiled!
I remember plenty of meals getting cooked up on it back when I was their age.
