if the hard drive is still good you take it out of the laptop and buy an adapter USB to IDE/SATA and plug it into the replacement computer, just like a thumb drive.

Remove the hard drive and get a 2.5inch hard drive adaptor so you can plug it in to a desktop zo you can access everything on the hard.
Lessen learned. Also spend a few dollars and get some cloud storage so you just store all your photos and files in the "cloud". Or atleast buy a portable hard drive and store everything on this.

Hardcore
Idiot Drivers - took the car for a leisurely spin through the local forest, had a couple of grand-kids on board.
On a sweeping right hand bend I see a black ute coming down the hill about 300 meters away all over the road practicing his drifting.
The closer he gets the more I slow and move off the road, he doesn't react to me at all. About 50 meters away I'm yelling at the kids to get ready for a crash as this guy is completely sideways and drifting towards me.
At the last minute he sees me and I could see the look of panic on his face, I'm sure it was more good luck than good driving but he missed me I'm still not sure how.
Bad enough to find all the crap dumped in the forest but to have to put up with morons who endanger their own and others lives is just not on.
Could have posted in the happy thread I suppose, anyway no one harmed but the kids did hear some language they haven't heard (from me anyway) before.
Cheers
Jack

Mate's son had a head on on the main mountain rd up Tallarook, some
clown speeding cut the corner, son only just borrowed his Dad's 4x4 too.
So now its headlights on and be wary at corners.
Oh and drifting is not a sport, lol

So close a shave, you could've bought the company. Glad to hear you're ok. Incidents like that make you realise how fragile life is.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.
