Been through similar with my kids..... not much fun !!!
These are the reasons I have full Ambulance cover for the whole family.

Never ever feel bad for calling an ambulance when they rock up and transport you to the hospital it's easier for them to concentrate on the task at hand rather than get emotional as parents do and lose concentration on the road
This kind of stuff was explained to us on our occupational first aid course we do every 2 years
