    A mate went up to a secluded spot in the high country we often go to, his first time there.
    Accessible only by one of 2 river crossings.
    I made in severely clear in perfect simplest words of English that if any , even a tiny bit of rain is forecast at any stage do not cross.

    Guess who's stranded now ?
    As I type this he's negotiating the amount of slabs with some blokes across the river about skull dragging him across IF the water goes down a tad ...
    They're we'll set up heaps of water and food...
    It's more funny than Angry. But I couldn't pick another amusing thread to slot this into ....

    And if this week hasn't been bad enough, the evaporative cooler itself last night.

    Tripped out the power about midnight. The only way to isolate it was by getting up on the roof and taking a pad off and flicking the switch.

    Now it's a 15 year old system, I could replace the motor or just replace the whole unit..

    Our 16 yo Breezeair unit stuffed up year and a half ago. First the belt and then the motor. The plumber back then said mate cut your loses and chuck up a newer more efficient and better system now. We just wanted the AC back. Bad move. Next the fan belt went again and then the pads were disintegrating.
    Cost of ALL of that would've paid a new system fitted like-for-like 1.5x over in terms of $.
    Gonna wait for off-season now to throw up a new unit.

    This is the first Victorian summer in nearly 20 years of owning my beloved monster Breezair evaporative cooler rooftop up in the hills that it isn’t cutting the mustard cooling wise.
    We’re usually bone dry up here by now and crapping our nappies that a windy 40C dry streak doesn’t hit us.
    Thinking if its motor goes kaput I’ll be looking towards full aircon replacement next time around if summer 2022/3 continues as a freaky new tropical Mexico normal

    This La Nina Southern Pacific Oscillation Pattern combined with a negative phase Indian Ocean Dipole cycle is the full whammy for a wet and muggy summer season my friend hence your evaporative air conditioning is next to useless this year. Stick your head in the fridge until our east and west oceanic oscillations oscillate once again and your evap cooler comes back into it's happy dry place again.

    @Avo, shut up!

    Same as your standard wall mounted style reverse cycle air conditioning, refrigerated air with the condenser unit outside, but the head unit is under the house and ducts run to every room. The whole house is cooled rather than just one room.
