Had a set (most likely same) on my old swb cruiser, would have been early/mid 80's. Back when you could only buy Bridgestone Desert Duelers for 15" sunrasya rims.
Have used gas /oil and found them too severe on corrugation and then leak - no good for me. OME were my first early 80's, not much else around. GU-Used Bilstien B6 / 2" lift (with modified valving) provide good handling / control but skip around corrugated corners and also had foam cell. Prefer larger bore oil and remote would be my next choice also.

Can you see a witness mark on where it might be hitting
Edit.
My guess is whatever that nut and bolt is right at the bottom of the pic, airbag mount?

Maybe we just put up with the bit of discomfort, pitching and throwing about, but must say had utmost confidence in what was going on. The old shortie was like a jinker but could go in and get out of mostly anywhere. Remember many good times:
one where we just had to go around one of those gate like things, dropping into a creek bed and winching up out the other side, and another,
when slipping of the track (snow time) sliding gentle down to rest up against a tree. Then out with the high lift jack and of course, near railway iron bars all round, lifted each corner up, put 4 chains under and tractored our way out. So good and next to no damage to truck or landscape, just slow as you go..
i put a 4cyl B series diesel 24 volt start (series / parallel switch-24v start/12v charge) - both batteries tucked in behind bull bar either side of the Thomas pto. see if I can find a pic. (replaced the petrol 2F) not fast at all but pulled so well. Buggrrr when one cell went so discharged both batteries, needed to do a 20km walk one day (no start).
Good times just poking around doing as bit of fishing and getting a fright when ever someone came into hearing distance (was not often).

I think you are pretty close. I am guessing its not the bolt but that small projection on the corner plate. I will have a look tomorrow to see if the shocker will compress that much and let you all know. Absolutely gobsmacked if it is as would never have thought I would get that sort of travel out of this suspension. If it is I am going to do some surgery/radius the plate I think as these are too expensive to go tearing apart!! Thanks Ben, Bidja and MB!
