That is shit mate, Your Boss has a legal responsibility to act and intervene. It is not unreasonable that you approach your Boss a day later and ask him what he intends to do. You are well within your rights to ask him his strategy. If he doesnt have a Conflict Resolution policy, he should. You can certainly rely on the one published by Workcover.

You dont need to have suffered a physical Injury to engage workcover mate. Your Boss really does need to deal with it. If you wait too long he is just as likely to say "Seriously! that was days ago! have you not got over it yet?"

I understand you have a good relationship wiht your boss, tell him you need this sorted out. Your job is not on the line but the other guy's should be.

    Employer duties
. An employer must, so far as is reasonably practicable, provide and maintain a safe and healthy work environment for their employees (employees include independent contractors engaged by an employer and any employees of the independent contractor). In accordance with their obligations under the Victorian Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (the OHS Act) this includes providing and maintaining systems of work that are, so far as is reasonably practicable, safe and without risks to health and consulting with health and safety representatives and their employees about health and safety issues that may directly affect them to comply.

. Consultation about work-related violence must occur when:
. identifying or assessing hazards or risks in the workplace
. making decisions about measures to be taken to prevent and manage work-related violence risks
. making decisions about information and training on work-related violence
. proposing changes that may affect the health and safety of employees.
. Employers must also provide information, instruction, training or supervision to their employees to enable them to perform their work in a way that is safe and without risks to health.

    That's terrible mate.

Along with what others have said, you may even be able to see your Doctor and see if you can get some time off for stress / mental health reasons which can also be used in your favour with Workcover etc. I don't know alot about this stuff, but I do understand that there are others you can go to if your Boss isn't interested in handling it.

Sounds like workplace bullying and abuse.

    Good luck mate

So I ended up going to the docs this Arvo, she told me I should definitely go to the police and make a statement. She also gave me the rest of the week off.

I went to the police and spoke to a Constable on duty. She told me if I made a statement he would be charged. I was reluctant to do this as everyone makes mistakes and I wanted to believe that my colleague would move past his grudge and see reason. So no statement made.

This evening i spoke to a another work mate who was also witness to the assault. He told me the guy that attacked me had rung him, asking him not to make an incident report, that I was gunning for his job and that he would just deal with after work one day...

I'll be off the the police to make that statement in the morning. This guy is a fucking moron.

Thanks for the support guys, it's much appreciated.

Mate go your boss and yes do a police report let workcover bend your boss over the office desk for the rest , don't ever think your boss will look after you if you did nothing wrong it doesn't work that way in reality.
Think restraining order and complaint for assault your boss will need three nappies .

Haha yep mate, tbh it's out of my hands now, made my statement this morning, now it's up to the police. Will be interesting what comes of it and what repercussions I will face at work. Depending on the outcome Might be time to start looking for a new job
