If you buy it through the school, if anything goes wrong with it, their own IT dept will look at it and give the student a loan laptop. If you BYO, they still will but its not priority so its gets put to the back of the line, and your kid will only get a load laptop if they can spare one. So the one we bought is a measly $500 dearer through the school rather than going to Harvey Normal or the like. FFS!
