Bought my 2nd via private sale. I bought for less than market and she got more than she would with a land crab sale.
Cokarsses lost out!! Win/Win!!
Yep, I hate them with passion too.... greedy good for nothing bastards always trying to push the price up..... bought my place 12 years ago. Place had been empty for 3 months, owners were desperate to sell due to already having bought another place and moved in with a bridging loan...... at the time it was a buyers market, plenty of houses on the market..... landcrabs were asking for too much anyway wanted 300K, so I low balled them at 260k. They came back straight away and asked for 290k.... so I turned round and told him, Im not messing about 270k is my final offer, no more..... they kept calling back like Plassys bloke asking for an extra k or 2...... i said nah, take it or leave it, Im in no hurry

I'm trying! I'm trying! Can get quite disheartening though at times. It would be easier if I wasn't looking for a full time job too, then I could just move out further as the kids rely on me to get them to school and back. So we need to stay relatively close to their school.

On the flipside, you'd be happy with the ones that push prices when you're selling.
They're after the commission. Turnover is their game. They have to play seller and buyer off against each other (or should that be "manage the expectations of"???) as quickly as possible to move onto next deal, and the next bimmer or merc...

Having just gone through the effort of Selling and Purchasing I was happy that the Agent tried for the best Price when we were selling.
I offered 10% over the Starting Price for our new Home with instructions to the Agent that the Offer was not negotiable and it was accepted.
Happy Chappy LOL
