Scored a cheap fridge slide to go with my new drawers =]
Hopefully will have the drawers for the meet up but not sure, can't rush mates rates.

Will you hook the slide up so it slides up to the passenger seat to save me turning around every time?

Check out the Engel Transit base that you bolt to the fridge slide,
No need for tie downs about $60 . Made from hard wearing ABS style plastic
Been using mine now over 15 yrs, Best thing ever , one click to remove
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there

Is it just to delete the tie downs? Or is there another reason for it?

Yeah you wont need tie downs at all, suits 40 to 60 ltr fridges.
Plus it looks neater

Sounds pretty expensive when I could just use tie downs?
