For me thats getting uncomfortable, and working a desk job from home, snacking and slobbing around, just stacked it on. Affected sleep pattern as well. Anyway, i am trim and delicious again, so you will recognise me when we next meet ol' Sprockie Doodle!

Nic, nice setup. I also run a large inverter(3500W) and battery bank (390a/h). I have a large alternator as well (300a/180a at idle). I find I use the battery bank feed to the inverter to charge small items like battery chargers for the makita chainsaw, without the alternator feed, but need the alternator running for other power tools or the coffee machine, I would say in the main the alternator runs most of the time as the current draw without the alternator top up depletes the battery bank too quickly. I certainly cant run the coffee machine for long without the alternator assist for example. If you can still run the inverter off the main bank for the small items you might get some flexibility. What size alternator is in the vehicle? For extended running of 240V power tools, if you need to go that way, that could be your limiting factor - being inability to top up the depleted charge.

I believe it is 120ah. What do I need to consider? It's not big enough? Lol

Now the inverter can only be on while car is running but can also be manually switched off. The inverter will run from the alternator rather than drawing power from the second battery via alternator charge. Works brilliantly and cost me less than $100

Wow, does that double as a battery bank for the house too? Thats a lotta battery!

Simple numbers, ignoring efficiency losses.
2400W = 240V x 10a, so converting to 12V power supply, 2400w = 12V x 200a (200amp is the draw on your battery bank, so 120a alternator would not cut that load), hence the load comes out of the reserve in the battery bank, not the alternator. Battery voltage drops, alternator tops it up, but as you can see in this example, the gap of 80a (200 V 120a) leads to an eventual flattening of the battery.

Swimming pool auto close doors passed the compliance inspection, all legal, all legit, excellent rework by Nic @rustynail over a couple of visits. Stuff like this needs to be handled by the tradie for sure - i would have stuffed around and made a mince of it for sure.
