    Electric or gas?

I had a 1/4 scale 4wd buggie, gas powered that came in a kit, had to be built, was only the engine that was a bolt in everything else diffs, steering, suspension all needed to be put together. Can't remember how long it took as it was ages ago, but I did it all by myself as a 15 or 16 year old. The thing was huge and yeah heaps of fun.

These days they're brought ready to go and there got 2 speed gearboxes and fark there quick.

It's electric but the battery is crap! Takes 2 hours to charge and get about 10mins drive out of it.
My mate spent some serious money on a top quality one and his take 10 mins to charge and gets 2 hours drive from it
The front flexes 90 degrees to the rear though and it goes anywhere (except river crossings) but that's another story

It's a very addictive and (can be) expensive hobby. I've done well to stay away from all this time. lol
I like the slow/crawling down geared ones. Rock crawling and climbing. Not so much into the fast track ones.
One day I'll use my son as the excuse to get one :P

Next to my work in Tullamarine there is purpose built tracks for this kind of stuff. Watching and talking to some of these guys, the setups of some of the pro-setup cars are worth more than a good part my Patrol !!

I think thats just sad hodgy. Why spend huge coin on whats basically a giggle toy when you could get out and have real life-improving experiences with the same?? Makes no sense to me. No doubt theres a time and place for gigglesville (i love toys too), but at the expense of real world experiences?
