I can understand that. We only buy what we can pay for. Haven’t owed anyone a cent since the mid 90’s.

A pipe dream for me and most unfortunately these days. I'll be 356 years old before I've paid my mortgage off.

I`m in the same boat Cuppa.
Our first priority was pay the house off which we did in less than fifteen years. We only ever bought the highest quality products,ie , carpets, curtains, still on our second lounge suit, and dinning room suit, never tried to keep up with the Joane's. Paid cash for every thing including cars which I normally hung onto for around ten plus years.
Once the house was paid off it was party time (well kind of) Back in the day I gave up my racing and the piss for over seven years (making up for it now).Did a lot of work around the house on the Barter system including building on a nice pool room and bar. We also repaired things that broke.
Any way it is each to their own. But i`m happy for my kids as both have something to fall back on if hard times come around.
By the way, my son who is fourty five this year has never had a drivers license or a car (massive money savings there) but mind you he does do a little pedaling, a little over one hundred and fifteen thousand Ks in the last six years.
Any way each to their own
