Had to laugh when a telemarketer rang. Before she started her rehearsed lines, I butted in and asked her for the full name of the company she was calling for. After getting the details she asked why I needed them to be so precise. I replied that since it was the second time they had called (bulldust) that I was forwarding their details to the Communications Ombudsman as this number is on the No Call Register. The lass was very flustered and said, "Very sorry, Sir, I am now taking all your details from our data bank. Sorry, Sir, we won't call again." I wonder how long it will last...
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

How long ago did you register? You need to re-register after 8 years.

I just put the phone down and go on with what I was doing and let them talk away.

Exactly my tactic. And ever since we had a child I just put a toy that makes some sort of sounds next to the phone too. For what it's worth. Do not call register does jack all for us.

The DNC register has worked well for us. It now those pesky door knockers that cant read signs politely telling them to eff off.
