The BFG's would be the best all round tyre. They grip exceptionally well on the black top, sand and mud (even at 38psi).
Both style of claws are noisy but work well in the softer terrains, the MTZ's are great on the harder rocky terrain.
And the simex. These things work pretty bloody well as a serious play tyre. Wet rock they arent great but I think this could be made much better with beadlocks. The reason I chose to give these things a go (apart from the cost) was I watched a winch challenge DVD and most cars in these events are similar in set ep and power. The 2 tyres that stood out, as in could drive the furtherest before winching, were the Sticky treps and the simex centipedes.
I got quoted on some BFG's for around $400 a pop but was told that the Dunlops are just as good but don't know if its a sales pitch, but if i was out doing tracks oftenly i would have them sitting in my shop already but seeing as these wheels will only get used once a month and only put on when i do go out for a play it could be to my benefit to get something like these budget tyres.

I got some other really good advice early in the piece. I could not fathom at the time spending $2k on a set of play tyres!! WTF!!! Who does that! Well if you consider that you buy new, buy good and keep for 5 years then sell when they are 60 to 70% for 50% of the cost and upgrade to the new ones again.

You always use the best bit of the tyre and after the initial investment they are actually very economical.

Buy the best Play tyre that you can and buy 35s if your going to go that way.
Honestly mate i don't muck around with tyres, on my rx theres around $500 per corner, the rears only last 5 to 10,000km depending how often i take it out so for the trol any tyre i get would last till its nackered lol. 35's are out of the question ATM but i was going with 33's coz they fit in the wheel arch and my current height so i can still play in the work horse and play harder in the toy!!

I paid 400 a tyre for my BFG's and even with everything I have done on them they have only just got to half worn going by the tread depth and have put 55,000km on them so this is where the differences come in. I worked out ifi were to buy a cheaper tyre around the $350 mark then it would cost 20% more in the long run.

I am really considering the Hurcules coz they're made in the US aswell but i'm willing to take the gamble on them to try them and give feedback to every to see how they stack up against the BFG's this weekend at Tallarook coz i think Jonathan has them so we can do a comparison??.

Matt the k's and how well you say the BFG's perform has definitely put them to the top if my list.

If i got the Hurcules and wasn't happy them i could sell them off and go straight for the KM2's.

And you tell us this now. That's a good price and could prob still be landed in aus for cheaper than they are being sold over here. Would have been good to know about this 55k ago lol
