would you buy a car with a defect notice?
this vehicle has a defect notice because a cracked windscreen and oil leak out of the sump plug that is all as far as I know about the vehicle

Now my question is IF the car is in good condition otherwise would get it inspected and came back ok except for these things would you by one with a defect notice??

Way too many things to go wrong with a 4x4, and none of them are cheap to repair
Buy your 4x4 with a RWC and if possible warranty , for a bit of peace of mind
To answer your question No I wouldn't buy a 4x4 with a defect notice
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there

Yes I would pay for an inspection. BA
In WA we don't have RWC that come with the vehicles coppers chuck a yellow sticker on if they deem its unroadworthy and its up to you to get it over the pits and cleared by a mechanic.

Buyer beware.
Trust me, the vehicle examiners don't just look at the stuff that's on the yellow sticker.
They start their from the front number plate and work their way back to the back tow ball. Have a REALLY GOOD LOOK at the link.

Id tell the seller that if they fix the defects and get it passed then I'll buy it. Here in tas if a vehicle has a defect sticker, only the things mentioned on the defect sticker have to be fixed to get the sticker removed. But yeah, it's different in each state when it comes to these things.

I know in vic depending weather its a minor or major defect you can just fix the items and then take it to the RTA or you will need to present a RWC to the RTA so you can keep your rego.
Personally i'd try and get it dirt cheap so if you have to spend some money repairing the car so if you had to sell it you will at a minimum get your money back.

thanks for the link Rossco
i have had a few canaries in my time and i used to work in a mechanics shop that did the RTA inspections down here in Bunbury, I got to 3 years into a mech app then gave it the flick as it wasn't holding my interest anymore and i had lack of motivation by then.
Given the fact that i live 2 hours away from the vehicle i would want to have a couple of other thing to do in Perth before i decide to waste my time driving that far and i would also inspect the car thoroughly myself and have an independant inspection done before i even thought about money down on any vehicle. i would also try and get in contact with the previous owners if possible because i don't trust the leaches that call themselves car salesmen.
Again thanks for the feed back guys

You would have thought that if it was a dealer selling the vehicle, that they would get the canary taken off before selling. Surely in their interest to do so............ Where abouts is it located?
