GQ and GU gearbox the same ?

gday guys, Just wondering if anyone knows if GQ and GU patrols with the TD42 engine have the same gearbox or not ? ive been told they do but would like some other people thoughts

Well supposedly the earlier model gu boxes had a weaker 5th gear than the gq box, suggesting that they aren't the same box.

They are different. The gu box has the shifter further back and won't go into a GQ and vice versa. I'm yet to have a look but you might be able to swap the tops over.

As its been said the earlier gu boxes had a weak 5th gear so anything post 03 is good. Also the ZD30 manuals have exactly the same box as a td42 in a gu.
