GQ 4.2L petrol to diesel conversion query

Gday, Im just curious. Is it a straight bolt up job if you have a GQ with a 4.2L petrol in it and you want to take that out and put a 4.2L diesel engine in ?

Ive just purchased and engine to build up and transplant.

Bellhousing is different on the diesel, three bolt starter hole instead of two, but i believe people have modified their petrol ones before. I bought a complete engine and trans.

Dash cluster is different and tacho wont work on a petrol cluster (from the research ive done).

    Radiator is different.

Engine will bolt straight in depending on mount style (there are two different styles) but can be changed to suit i believe.

    Wiring modifications.

Im sure im missing stuff but until i build my engine and undertake the task (plus do more research) i cant be sure.

So far i have a complete engine/trans and a diesel cluster that i dont really like. Think its a pov pack one.

Is your one carb or efi??

Carb model is pretty straight forward but injected model is a bit more stuffing around....

Rossco has done this conversion and did it over a couple of weeks with most of it done during the weekends..

It would end up cheaper to change the truck rather than change the motor.

If you are up for the challenge though.......go for it, but it will cost you......
