    LWB GQ Body Swap

    Hey guys,

Done a search but only found a few threads.

I will be doing a body swap very soon. Good body is a rb30 originally.

Other not so good body (rolled) is a td42. I know there are wiring changes but I will be changing all that over.

What is needed exactly to swap cabs. Disconnection of what exactly? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Would not matter if your a newbie or an oldie on here, sometimes people can't tell you what you need to know and other times posts simply get missed / buried.

If you haven't had a reply from a question after a day, jump in and bump the thread up

Sorry mate but I have never done a swap so can't help you.

    Cheers

    Todd

Body sea is easy other than the weight undo your 10 body bolts empty everything and wire wise I'm not sure what can stay as there two different cars one uses a heap and the other basically runs on a wire but really it's not complicated if you know what you can connect to each other I know this is not much help but it is easy and if you have the body off might as well respray it underneath whilst its up in the air as gq like to rust underneath so does any old car really good luck with it

    thats more like it.

    Thanks for the replies fellas.

Progress so far. I have removed all 4 doors from rolled body. Seats and carpet are out.

The bolts along side need a 14mm socket on top to stop the bolt from spinning. there r rubber plugs under the carpet that cover these up. Pretty easy to find really when ya can see the nut underneath etc.

I have only looked at engine bay so far but I will try get some pics of progress and what I had to remove.

I am swapping from a 89 GQ TD42 base model no elec what so ever (rolled body) and putting a 92 ST cab on that was originally a RB30. Still basic as for wind up windows n no elec mirrors but has the different tail lights etc in the bar not on the corners. Shouldnt be much of a problem with wiring.

I think I am going to swap the complete dashes over also. I know of quite a few differences in the td42 to rb30 wiring so thinking to save issues swap full loom and dash.

I'll see what I can get in writing to help others out.

Also what do you suggest to paint the bottom with. The underbody bitumen style stuff? I'm not right up with painting metal etc but I do have enough equipment to do it.

Does that stuff need any prep work. Or just a good clean and prepsol over it all. Then spray away??

You need to take pics mate......

The only difference I know in bodies is that mine has the sway bar disconnect and the ones that did not come with it dont have a hole there for the lever???

    Thats my worthless input.

Just a bit of advice......... these cars work so much better when you drive them on there wheels????? he he!!!

cant think of the name of it at the moment but yes you will want to remove dirt grease etc before doing it I just think if your gonna do it then make it last another 20-30 years
