    33's on Standard GU

    Hello fellow forumeers,

Been pricing up tyres for the patrol as I need to replace them before next rego inspection, Got some prices today on some Kumho KL78 a/ts theres $10 difference between the 265/75/16 and the 285/75/16

If I can I'd rather go the bigger size, I plan to go to a 2" lift down the track but would rather get the bigger tyres now if I can fit them, I'd expect scrubbing on full lock which doesn't bother me too much as long as height will be ok.

Would really appreciate some opinions on this.

    Kind regards,
    Eric.

285's will go easy mate. They aren't as wide as a 33x12.5 and if your getting a 2" lift they will be well suited.

I ran 285s on STD rims before my 2" lift no issues at all.
    Now I run 305s on a 2nd set

Thanks for the replies, just wanted to make sure they would be ok in the interim until I get the lift kit, funds are tight at the moment otherwise I would do the lift as well.

    Cheers,
    Eric.

285/75r16 are about 31.8inches in diameter and 11.6 wide.

315/70r16 are 33.2inches in diameter and 12.2 wide.

I would opt for the 315, they are a much better tyre.

Also those tyres will fit without a lift but you will most likely need to remove the front mud flaps. What type of lift are you wanting to run?

Cheers for that, just a 2" lift in 6 months or so.

    Regards,
    Eric.

    I differ with your conversion
My memory says 285s are same as 33s but only 11.5 in
305s a tad bigger than 33s but wider at 12.5
315 were 34.5 and as you stated will rip front mudflaps off without a lift.
No biggy but maybe someone else could confirm
    Pic is 305s /2" lift
    Mags are 285s @ 2" lift
305 is width in mm 70 is % of width {Aspect ratio} for sidewall and 16 is rim size
so 285 is width in mm 75 is % of width{aspect ratio} for sidewall and again 16 is rim size
