I thought my performance issues was carby related and considered replacing needle and seat until I noticed the durable design and left them be.

The carby clean and reset floats stoped the pop/crackle through exhaust when going down gears. Apart from this and smoother acceleration no other changes notice in performamce.
I put a carby repair kit through it. It came with needle, few balls, all the gaskets, etc. I made the 'mistake' of using gasket sealant between the bottom carby compartments.

I'm about to pull it apart again and do an even better job with high spray cleaning with carby cleaner etc.

I will let you know how it goes.

    Cheers
